As an Instructor at The Gravity Vault Upper Saddle River, you represent the face of our business and have the most direct interaction with customers. Working closely under the guidance of the management team, you play a key role in delivering a consistently positive experience for guests each day.

Key Responsibilities:

• Using our POS system to check in customers and answer any questions they may have in person or over the phone.
• Assisting customers with membership and retail sales.
• Belaying for private sessions, youth and adult classes as well as parties.
• Ensuring safety of both staff and customers within the facility.  
• Maintaining cleanliness of the facility by assisting with opening and closing cleaning procedures.
• Other job related duties as assigned.

Requirements: 

• Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
• Availability: Weekdays, evenings and weekends (min. of 15 hours per week).
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Climbing experience is a plus but not required. Comprehensive training will be provided.
• Experience working with children is strongly preferred.

Job Description:

The Location Head Coach is the face of Team Gravity Vault for their respective location. The Location Head Coach is responsible for creating a positive, motivating and healthy environment where Team Gravity Vault members can grow as climbers and as individuals. As a mentor and role model for both team members and assistant coaches, the Location Head Coach should lead by example and consistently embody the values and mission of The Gravity Vault. This position reports to the Location Manager and consults with the Brand Head Coach and General Manager.

Role/Responsibilities:

• Lead weekly Advanced and Competitive Team practices
• Schedule: Mon: 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Tues/Thus: 4:30pm - 8:00pm

• Communicate with location team coaches and assist with Intermediate Team practices and curriculum when needed
• Schedule: Sat: 9:00am - 11:00am

• Create practice curriculum aimed to improve climbing technique, physical and mental strength, teamwork, and competition skills
• Attend both local and championship level competitions on scheduled weekends. May require extended domestic travel
• Administer team tryouts and be responsible for onboarding/offboarding team members
• Facilitate team promotions throughout the facility’s youth programs 
• Coordinate with management to maintain accurate billing of dues 
• Maintain communication with parents via an @gravityvault.com address regarding progress of their climbers, competition schedules, and other team related events
• Facilitate championship prep camps 
• Facilitate team summer camps and outdoor climbing trips where applicable

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years experience bouldering and sport climbing
• Experience training athletes in all disciplines of climbing at a high level of competition
• A high level of understanding of advanced climbing movement and techniques
• USAC Coaching Level 2 Certification: See USAC web page for requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, young athletes and parents

Preferred Experience:

• Ability to climb V6+ or 5.12+ and/or train climbers at these levels
• Group Fitness or Personal Training Certification (ACE, AFAA, NASM, or equivalent)
• Route setting experience

Compensation:

• Hourly, Part-time, Starting at $20 per hour
• USAC Level 2 Coaching Certification Fee

Job Description:

The Gravity Vault Upper Saddle River is seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Team Coach to support the development and training of our Youth Climbing Teams. In this role, you will collaborate with head coaches to implement structured training programs, lead engaging practices, and mentor climbers as they progress in skill, confidence, and competition. This is a hands-on opportunity to inspire young athletes, promote a love of climbing, and contribute to a positive team culture aligned with The Gravity Vault’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and supervise youth climbers during scheduled team practices.
• Motivate and mentor athletes to help them achieve personal and competitive goals.
• Foster a positive, inclusive and growth-focused team environment.
• Ensure all practices and activities are conducted in accordance with safety standards and The Gravity Vault’s values.
• Attend competitions with the team.
• Communicate with athletes and parents regarding goals, progress and events.

Qualifications:

• Competition climbing experience.
• USA Climbing Coach Certification.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience coaching youth in climbing or another individual/team sport.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches and gym staff.
• Saturday morning availability is required.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Hourly rate range: $15.92 - $19.00/hour.
